For Chris Gibbs, owner of UNION LA, basketball culture insinuates and expresses itself in a perfectly natural way in streetwear. It was therefore entirely logical to push this reasoning to the end in the latest edition of the Jordan x UNION partnership which has been going on for several years. The collection embodies the spirit and fascination of Jordan off the court, with a vision that encompasses the late ’80s and early ’90s in all their facets, through advertising, music, street style and, well, obviously, some memorable sporting moments. The Air Jordan IV inaugurates a collection that emphasizes manufacturing and materials. “Our idea was to combine suede and mesh, and we searched very carefully for the ideal materials,” explains Chris Gibbs. For the suede, we wanted something really thick, but very soft… As for the mesh, we chose an old school style like that of the OG sneakers from the 80s.” This avant-garde interpretation of MJ’s fourth signature shoe explores new horizons by innovating on many levels.
